Wedding and Honeymoon on the way... continued...

Krystle has spent all this month and will spend the first 2 weeks of next month with the Salvation Army camp just outside of town as a camp counselor.  It's been a frustrating and yet rewarding experience for her.  She's gotten sick along with a few other unfortunate problems outside of her control, which have discouraged her.  I've been concerned for her safety all along considering rattlesnakes and copperheads are very common in this area and they've each been spotted at the camp multiple times.  I do know that this will work out for the better, no matter what.  It's been difficult considering the rules of the camp and it's isolation create cell phone use issues.  We get to talk maybe 5-10 minutes a day at the most, 3 or 4 days a week, but we do get to visit for a little while Saturday night and Sunday morning/afternoon.  Every weekend is different, and we got to spend almost all of it together a few days ago, but she said that's likely the only weekend we'll get that kind of time, so, sigh... and only about 3 weeks to go now.

As it is, I have saved up about $850 for the honeymoon... and for the record, this would NEVER have happened without Krystle leaving for that camp.  I can't help myself, every time she asks for a Dr. Pepper, milk, cheeseburger, taco bell, etc. I cave.  As evidenced by the fact that I've been able to save up this much money with only 3 paychecks. We're about to get married, and I seriously need to learn to put my foot down if I know we shouldn't spend the money, lol.  By eating cheap food from the cheap little stores within walking distance of work and home, I've cut at least $250 wasted spending... PER PAYCHECK.  Pretty freaking amazing, huh?  I can't believe how it stacks up.

On a related, but different topic.  I've been wanting to get a concealed carry license for a couple years now.  There's almost no way I could get one, buy a weapon, and still afford the honeymoon.  It would take a stronger degree of control than I'm exercising, even now, and for me to find some awesome deals for the honeymoon, which will be in San Antonio.  We're staying in a B&B, not a hotel, and will be...
more later...
I'm back!
We're staying in a B&B, not a hotel, and will be paying more for that reason.  They have honeymoon packages and stuff like that which I'll be checking into.  That stuff goes on top of the normal nightly rates.  So in all, the honeymoon can cost in excess of $1k, and maybe I'm just being paranoid, but having my new wife at my side in a strange city for that long without a solid means of protection is a tad unnerving.  That's not to say I'm so paranoid I won't be able to enjoy it or anything, I just wish I had that defensive method available.  Maybe this time next year things will be different.

In preparation for the move, I've started going through all my boxes, and I've already set aside around 7 boxes worth of stuff I can throw away.  My closet floor is now completely empty and all that's left in it is my clothes, board games, blades, sheets(don't have a twin bed anymore, but still have the sheets...), and pool stick on the top shelf.  That was probably about half of the unpacked boxes in my room... and if I don't get rid of them now, I'll have second thoughts... which has already begun.

On a separate note, today makes 1-year employed and working for Grace Medical Equipment.  It's been a good year, and in all honesty, the best job I've had yet..

Chris feels convicted...

So... Lately, I've not been the type of man I should be.  I've intentionally allowed myself to sleep in on Sundays when I thought I could get away with it.  Shoot, I set alarms on my phone to remind myself to make phone calls... I double check all of my alarms every night for work, and have for years.  I haven't missed an alarm in so long I can't remember it anymore.  I've let my spiritual life slip... I've allowed myself to lose track of time on Sunday nights, Mondays, and Wednesdays even in the past several months, and the convictions are starting to catch up to me.  I can trace the reasons for this back to a couple events that have made a significant impact on the spiritual authority of my denomination, and the churches I've attended.

I only feel at home in one church.  I've tried a large number of churches and even different denominations, and it feels as though the only church which can be my home, is the one in Van Buren... 43 Assembly of God.  It's too far to drive though.  I'm not sure what to do about this...  I can stubbornly continue at First.  I have tremendous respect for the guys I work with from there, and the pastor and youth pastor themselves.  I want to feel at home there but I just can't.  I couldn't at Calvary so much either back when I attended there.  I just don't know what to do.  Every time I go back to 43, I feel like I'm walking into the only home I've had in years, yet it's too far away to attend...  I don't know what to do about this...  It's start to show, because the guilt coming from this conviction is starting to take a toll now.

With Krystle off campus for the summer, I'm not going to get to see her nearly as much, and now she's only 2 days from joining the Salvation Army Camp near town as a Camp counselor, which will mean an extremely decreased amount of hang-out time.  It will be difficult, but it's got me kicked out of my normal routine enough that I'm refocusing onto myself, and what kind of man I should be when we meet at the altar in a couple months as husband and wife.

I need to be a true man...  and this reawakening of the desire to become that is shaking me up and causing me to take notice of the ways I've let my spiritual life slip to the floor.  I'm not perfect, and I've always known it, and I've always in some small way tried to change it, but I'm starting to realize just how weak-willed the attempts I've made to solve the problem have been.  I have a LONG ways to go, and I need to get my rear end in gear now.  It's like I'm stuck in a rut, except that I've realized the ruts I'm stuck in could possibly be train tracks...  I have to get it straightened back out... I need to stop calling my sins "unsolved problems" and "difficulties" and call them what they are.  It's a sin to avoid God.  It's a sin to intentionally not go where I know I should be to meet him.  Every time I know I should be in church, no matter which one it is, and I don't go for any reason, it's a sin.  Just like now.  These thoughts were welling up in me, and I'm basically skipping church now.  It's not made holy because I'm listening to christian music, thinking about church, and reading christian stuff. No matter how I try to explain it, I should've gone to church, and now it's too late to go.

So, there are changes that must be made.  It's as simple as that.  I need to grow to become the man Krystle needs.  If I'm to be the strong man she'll need to help her navigate life, I need to grow up and become more than the man I've been.

I need to be a Man of God.  The kind that God can direct.  And I'll never be that man until I can do the simplest of things... like visit Him at His place when we already made arrangements.

A real tragedy...

He was a Veteran of Iraq/Afghanistan.  Among the first troops to arrive in New Orleans in the aftermath of Katrina.

A newlywed, only 2 months married the day he was hired on as one of my delivery drivers at Grace between 2 and 3 months ago... his 90-day evaluation coming up pretty quick.

A guitarist, and fan of the Guitar Hero games, and mostly rock music.  After Krystle bought me Guitar Hero 3, it became one of our main topics of conversation.  Some days I loaned him my mp3 player so he'd have some music to listen to when he was on the road.  The vehicle he was in most often was our '06 Ranger, the radio was ripped out before being sold to us.  We had a couple interesting conversations about the music I kept on the thing.  Less than 2 weeks ago, when we finally got a stereo installed in the truck, he was beyond thrilled.

When he accidentally stumbled onto clues betraying the Christmas gift his wife had picked out for him, I knew about it.  He didn't just tell me about it, he brought it back up several times.  He was extremely excited about it.

Shaun and I were becoming good friends... The friends I have in Tahlequah are mostly college students I know through Krystle, and I've never really been able to hang out with or see them on a regular basis, and Shaun was becoming the first that didn't fit that mold.  Last week, he gave Krystle and me an open invitation to come over sometime.  I had planned to invite him to my most recent movie day, but he had drill duty, and wouldn't be able to come.  He and I were kinda unique to our workplace.  Every guy at work besides the two of us were avid hunters and/or sports fans.  That's 2 out of 8 guys.

We were needing to get ahead on deliveries since we were planning on having the 25th and 26th off, as well as the 1st and 2nd. So yesterday, I had gotten up early to run the longest route myself since I hadn't realized it's length until it was too late to offer it to the other drivers.  My 2nd stop was in Purcell, south of Oklahoma City.  On my way back, I was cutting as close to straight east as I could to get to Hartshorne, and got a call from work saying to pray for him cuz we'd gotten a call from a FedEx guy that his truck was in a bad wreck.  About 5 phone calls later, I was passing through McAlester, and got a call from a guy at work.  Route's over, come home.

Shaun died in the wreck.

I only knew him for a couple months, but I really am gonna miss him.

The 2008 Presidential Election

This election is becoming a very controversial and ground-breaking occurence in the history of the United States of America.

On one hand, we have what BEGAN as the more significant (culturally speaking) portion of the election.  Former first lady to the 42nd president, Hillary Rodham Clinton, ran against a new arrival, a black man, new to the political scene by comparison, but with charisma, public appeal, and a radical and ear-catching message, Barack Hussein Obama.  Each a powerful contender for the political position of power which is the President of the United States of America.

It was to be absolutely ground-breaking.

What wound up happening was a test to the Democratic party's unity...

After Hillary Clinton decided to drop out... I'd still like to know why honestly, it fell entirely on Obama.  Obama did WHAT exactly with his pick for VP?  The smarter thing would've probably been to pick Hillary.

I am inclined to wish, even if ONLY for the sake of the Democratic party's unity and the well established Democrat influence within the civil rights movement, they would combine a black man for president and woman for vp.  I knew when I originally heard about the two candidates that it was a black vs. a woman.  Two different civil rights movements that are still very much alive.

When occurences like the Jena 6 were spun by biased media so far beyond the original occurence that it was completely unrecognizable...

When natural human frailty is revealed in the wake of tragedy, such as was the case with Hurricane Katrina several years ago... is wrongfully twisted into an uncaring government's negligence, and thrown on Bush's shoulders.

These 2 articles are a MUST READ.

Politics is BULL.  Neither McCain nor Obama are exempt from that.  However, in this election, I've seen enough junk on Obama's side to make McCain the better pick regardless of any skeleton he may be hiding.

The recent Wall Street "crisis" has exploded into a political scheme on Obama's part.  He's continuing to yell "I will CHANGE Washington!" Despite the fact that his economic advisor, Franklin Raines is responsible for the self destruction of one.  Franklin Raines, Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, the list goes on... There were a lot involved in letting it happen by their (and even Obama's own) acceptance of contributions from the companies in question, and absolute, steadfast, blatant refusals to accept and intervene when the issues were brought forward years ago by Republicans LIKE, and INCLUDING McCain!

ACORN is most recently being pushed into the news because of massive voter fraud issues. The organization and Obama go WAY back... nearly 15 years. Watch all the videos, and read the articles, please.

With the media putting out articles like this...

It's obvious they're trying to protect ACORN.  If you attempt to be someone, even someone that doesn't exist, or you've made up, or is just a cartoon, in an effort to secure an extra vote in what is supposed to be a fair election, you have committed an ILLEGAL act, in an attempt to unfairly turn the election in your chosen candidate's favor.  No  number of technicalities should be utilized to protect a person who is doing the wrong thing, especially with something as crucial to the American government as ELECTIoNS.

It was Democratic politics that created the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae into the position they are in today.  It started many years ago, but was pushed forward and the current spiral began during Clinton's administration.  There was a huge push for EVERYONE to become a homeowner.  Basically, the Democrats pushed it.  Home loans were passed out to people who couldn't pay them, and eventually it got really huge.  Mixing those with the Enron-like corruption already among the FMs', several attempts to reform were blocked by mostly Democratic House members.

Pay close attention to the people in those links, and this next video defending Freddie and Fannie.  Also, note their political affiliations.  This is a partisan issue.

One of the BIGGEST factors pushing Obama along as far as he's gotten is his declaration that he represents a NEW breed of politics, immune to the mudslinging, slandering, "usual-politics." He claimed to be above the bureaucratic nonsense...
Yet...

Obama's stance on abortion goes significantly deeper than just "pro-choice."  He has an established record of not only voting pro-abortion, but even allowing children who manage to survive the abortions to die without medical attention.

What HAS Obama done for our country already?  If he is to be the president of the USA, he should be able to prove himself capable of helping steer the course of our nation in the future, right?  I've named some of the things he's done, all of which are obviously partisan issue.

ok... one more thing...
Obama is not the messiah...

I desperately hope that if you started at the top, you have read all the way down to here...

I tried to gather good information.  This election is an extremely important moment in US history, for MANY reasons.  If you're religious, pray that you make the right choice... but I personally want to pray that by this point, the right choice has already been made perfectly clear.

God Bless.
